Challenge for Healthy Relationships Training

Iowa State University Extension, Polk County is set to deliver the first ever Challenge for Healthy Relationship (CHR) training on January 13th, 2009. This exciting interactive program uses experiential education to get adolescents talking about their relationships with friends, family, teachers, and more.

"The Challenge for Healthy Relationships and portable challenges provided by the Adventure Learning Center has done wonders for my middle school girls group. The girls are learning to trust themselves and each other. The girls are learning to respect and value one another's differences. Their confidence is soaring and this program has helped my group immensely,"said Stacey Cornwell, Success Case Manager for Weeks Middle School.

Through the CHR training participants will learn about the experiential model of Do, Reflect, Apply and the importance of using hands on programs to build trust between the facilitator and the participant. By using this model participants can use the program materials provided to them in backpacks to open up lines of communications with adolescents that may not have been possible in the past.
