Adventure Learning Center

Altoona, IA, August 2nd, 2010 - Iowa State University Polk County Extension is a proud recipient of a Principal Financial Group Foundation, Inc. Community Betterment Grant totaling $5,000.

The Adventure Learning Center will expand the very popular Adventure in Leadership program to include a more focused target audience and collaboration with the Reach Out Iowa Service learning program. Over the course of the next year, the Adventure in Leadership program will reach out to high school students across the state interested in pursuing a business related career in the future. Helping the youth to develop leadership skills and serve community members by identifying needs within their communities.

Adventure in Leadership offers community members an opportunity to learn the qualities and importance of good leadership, by increasing trust, communication, decision making, and problem solving skills within the team. Each Adventure in Leadership program, in collaboration with Reach Out Iowa, will follow-up with a community service learning project.
